Knitting News - 9

It's Wednesday and it's back it must be knitting news.  This week Knitting for the Guards and Knitting for the Children, two knitting groups knitting for two very worthy causes.

Knitting for the Guards.

Cawthorne Mother's Union have been knitting balaclavas for the guards serving in Afghanistan, they have knit loads of these with the intention of the guards wearing these under their helmets to keep them warm during the cold weather.
I have noticed a lot of knitting groups are happy to spend time knitting items of clothing for the brave people serving in the armed forces.  It is a wonderful thing to do and long may it continue to bring a bit of joy to these people both doing the knitting and those receiving these gifts.

The neo-natal unit at Leicester General Hospital has received a donation of over 50 items of clothing such as; hats jumpers, socks etc...  These have all been knitted by members of the Oakham Knit and Natter Club, the members have worked hard to create these items and the Chairman says they are happy to support a worthwhile cause.
